Our 2016 trip was at a time when all three of us (My dad Lee, brother Richard, and I) could make the trip. Even though our destination was familiar, we always use different routes and enjoy the riding and the company.
For this trip, we met in Talihina, Oklahoma. A delicious dinner and a couple of beers at the Alley Bar began the festivities. That is a preferred destination because it is walking distance to our motel. We don't ride after drinking. It also has a lot of local flavor.
Richard was riding his new 2011 Ducati Multistrada (black bike in this pic). My silver bike is a 2000 BMW R1100RS, and dad's red one is a 2001 BMW R1100RS.
For breakfast, we walked to the Hateful Hussy diner. With a name like that, the food has to be good, and it is.

When we got to Mountain View, there was a pretty sunset.
And a beautiful morning after a good night's sleep!
After riding Push Mountain Road, we stopped beside the White River for a rest. Push Mountain Road is sometimes called "The Tail of the Dragon West" after the famous Tennessee motorcycle road. It is smooth, curvy, and fun.
In Gamaliel, AR there is a unique church that demanded some pictures.
A stop in Calico Rock, where downtown buildings were being renovated, also took us down the hill to the old ghost town of Peppersauce.

After dinner, I took a short ride up to Guion, where a small highway crosses the White River.
AR-9 to Melbourne had a beautiful pull out scenic area. Fun road!
I don't remember exactly where this old bridge was, but it probably was not the smartest thing to cross on a motorcycle. Pretty and fun, but maybe not smart...
On the ride home, we stopped at Alum Cove Natural Bridge Recreation Area for a short hike and to repair my boot with tape after I dragged the toe and ripped the sole loose. Trying to keep up with Richard is not easy....
A final night in Poteau, then we split up for the ride home. Another great family trip!
