In 2015, our May trip was just Dad and I. We began by taking the scenic route to Mountain View. On the way, we stopped for a short hike at Pedestal Rocks Scenic Area. Lots of rain means lots of wildflowers.
Then a stop in Leslie, Arkansas for some bread at a fantastic brick oven wood-fired bakery. This is a MUST if you are in the area.
After loading up again dad noticed his front brake caliper acting weird. Upon inspection the caliper bolts were gone. Fortunately there was a parts store across the street and they had a small selection of metric bolts. We found some bolts that would secure the caliper and rode on.
Once we arrived in Mountain View, the nightly Ozark Folk Music concerts were a must. The city park near the courthouse square has gazebos for folk musicians to perform. Audience members bring lawn chairs and get free concerts. It's a great slice of rural Arkansas!
Musicians and spectators are all ages. The music ranges from instrumental bluegrass to gospel to vocal and everything in between.

Any direction from Mountain View is a gorgeous and challenging ride. Our rides took us north to the Buffalo River Wilderness and beyond. One stop included a historic settler's cabin. We were dodging raindrops most of the trip. One excursion (even after checking radar) resulted in getting caught in a deluge going up a mountain road with no pullouts to put on rain gear. My phone got soaked but dried out and worked again.
On the way home, we spent the last night in Oklahoma and had another shower before dinner. Our trouble was rewarded by a pretty sunset.
Another great trip and many happy memories.
